| An absolute beginner to the field and just seeking to acquire the basics of flower arrangement for a new hobby, I enrolled on the summer course at the Academy of Flowers initially for one week. However, I immediately saw I had discovered a gem of a course and decided to stay for the second week. Learning far more than just flower arrangement, students are given an insight into all aspects of floral art and design - including basic commercial principles. The course is brilliantly structured and the amount of progress one can make in just ten days is astounding. The teachers are experts who are passionate about their subject and prepared to guide even the most challenged student like myself with patience and understanding. It is also entirely suitable for those with some knowledge and experience or for those who plan a career in floristry. People of all ages (course participants ranged from 20 to 60) will find in Gillian and her team a group of dedicated professionals who create a welcoming atmosphere in lovely surroundings.
